Five years ago, Saho lost her husband and has since lived alone. Despite her loss, she is sociable and has been considering new romance and even remarriage. Living with her is her 40-year-old son, Shinichi. While their relationship isn't bad, Shinichi leads a lazy, undisciplined life, and Saho wishes he would become independent and move out soon. One early autumn, Saho had planned a trip with her boyfriend, but when he canceled at the last minute, she decided to take her son Shinichi on a hot springs getaway instead. This journey would become the turning point that drastically changes the relationship between mother and son.
