In the autumn of 1958, in a remote mountain temple in Hyogo Prefecture, a former prostitute arrives seeking refuge. Once separated from her young son due to her late husband's debts, she was sold into the Yoshiwara red-light district. Released under the Anti-Prostitution Law amnesty, she comes to the Asago temple hoping to reunite with her son after eleven years. But their long-awaited reunion is shattered by the twisted desires of the temple's monks, who are consumed by incestuous lust. As she begins her life as a nun, dark forces seize her and force her into an incestuous relationship with her own son. In the impoverished early Showa era, a time when social change had only just begun, the corrupt and lewd desires of the temple's monks and nuns sacrifice mother and son alike, driving them toward a brutal and tragic fate.
