After living in the neighborhood for several months with my wife Megu, news spread about a two-night, three-day community camping trip. We had never participated before and had no intention of joining, but were strongly pressured by the neighborhood association leaders to take part. On the day of the event, although everyone was supposed to attend, for some reason only our couple and three middle-aged men from the association ended up participating. Though suspicious, I was surrounded by people who kept me from leaving and eventually drank until I passed out. That night, half-conscious, I watched helplessly as my wife disappeared into a tent with one of the middle-aged men. A disturbing and absurd series of events unfolds.
