Three years into marriage with my wife Hitomi, we bought an apartment and moved to this neighborhood. I had dreamed of a fresh start, but the overwhelming number of local community association rules and events quickly became stressful. Then one day, Hitomi mentioned there would be a community camping trip, and I started to take interest. Previously, she had stayed out of such activities as a housewife, but lately she seemed bored and expressed a strong desire to go. Hearing that nearly everyone would attend, I found it difficult to accompany her during this busy period. Reluctantly, I let her go alone—yet anticipation grew for what might unfold ahead.
