Kozue Kimura, a 53-year-old housewife, spends her days busy with childcare and household chores. Recently, however, she's noticed a change in her son's behavior. Usually gentle and kind, he's become increasingly listless, unresponsive when spoken to, and spends more time staring blankly into space. She tried convincing herself it was just typical teenage behavior, but her heart ached seeing him like this. Finally gathering the courage to speak with him, she learned he had confessed that the girl he liked was taken by another man. As she tried to understand his feelings, she began to recognize the deep loneliness and emotional pain hidden within her son.
