In Japan from the Meiji to the Showa era, women filled with lust were said to be the forces that moved history. Among them, particular attention falls on those called villainesses—yet fiercely passionate and desiring love—these magnificent women. This work centers on the tragic life of Abe Sada, presenting five short dramas that depict the stories of five iconic lustful women of their times: Inokawa Ochou, who lived in the underworld of the Taisho era; Rai Oshin, known as a lewd villainess of the Meiji period; and also Ohyaku of Gion and Tsuchibashi Otsu, who thrived on the eve of the Meiji Restoration. Each woman, burning with love and desire in vastly different circumstances, bewitched men and held power to shape their eras. Concluding the Japan Artistic Romance Library series, this work profoundly moves viewers with its sensual expression and dramatic storytelling, capturing the turbulent hearts and desires of women amid changing times.
