Yoshie Fujie, a newlywed who married under her father's orders, finds herself financially comfortable but emotionally unfulfilled, exhausted by her empty married life. Desperate to escape a life in which she can't stand up to anyone, she visits the home of Abe, her father's close friend, who has always been kind to her since childhood. His apartment remains unchanged—old and worn—but for Yoshie, it's a comforting refuge. Soon, the man and woman, separated by age, begin a strange cohabitation. Yet within Yoshie's heart, uncontrollable feelings for Abe begin to surge.
