I have absolute confidence in competitive swimming. When a new student claims a slight tardiness isn't an issue, I ask if it's okay to swim tomorrow since I forgot my swimsuit—only to be told that if I'm serious, I should jump in the pool immediately when the whistle blows. I head straight to the pool still in my uniform. But halfway there, I get a cramp, and an upperclassman rushes in, still wearing their gym uniform, to rescue me.
