For me, cosplay has always been like a bridge connecting the 3D and 2D worlds. I've constantly struggled with how to bring my real-world self closer to 2D characters. That struggle continues even now, and I keep experimenting every day. Around 2017, I encountered the rise of virtual YouTubers and was deeply moved. I still remember the shock I felt—realizing there was actually a way to connect the 2D and 3D worlds like this. I loved Tesagure too, but this real-time, interactive genre struck a deep chord with me, as someone who had always aimed to exist between the 2D and 3D realms. From that point on, alongside cosplay, I began developing a strong interest in virtual characters. However, back in 2018, the virtual character genre was still somewhat half-baked, and I had to approach it with caution. On May 20, 2018, I tweeted: "VTubers are half-naked, so I believe we must approach them with purity and care." I jokingly added that if someone like DWU-chan became too approachable, I might completely fall apart. I had already become a fan of DWU-chan by then, and on May 21, 2018, I made the decision to create my own original virtual YouTuber. After eleven months of learning, gathering support from many people, this project finally came to life. To everyone who generously shared their technical expertise with me to fulfill my simple wish—"to create a sexy virtual character that people can use in adult ways while remaining wholesome"— I offer my deepest gratitude. And to all of you who share similar feelings, I look forward to continuing this journey with your support. That's how "Tsumugi-chan," an original virtual YouTuber, was born. We've already released videos featuring her non-live-action broadcasts, and this current work is a slightly special format—combining those videos with cosplay footage, presented in a way that reduces the sense of reality, allowing both to be viewed simultaneously. Since this is our first attempt, the broadcast still feels a bit unpolished, but going forward, by mixing different avatars and performers, I hope to deliver even more entertaining content.
