Nurse Megumi becomes the mistress of the hospital director in order to afford treatment for her chronically ill mother. While working at the clinic, she reunites with Saito, a pharmaceutical sales representative with whom she had a romantic relationship during their student days. He reaches out to her once again, and the two grow emotionally close inside the hospital. The director grows resentful and upset upon learning of their affair. Yet as Megumi reflects on her past love, she is forced to make difficult choices to survive in the present.
