Three years into her marriage and raising a young child, a married woman travels alone to Europe. She marries a local student and begins living with her husband's parents at their family home. Unable to speak the local language—only English—she feels isolated and lonely. Overcome with homesickness, she resolves to return to Japan temporarily. The convenience of life back home and the delicious food quickly win her heart. Though she worries about her child, family, and university life left behind in a foreign country, she gradually grows accustomed to life in Japan, and a desire to stay there permanently begins to take root. As her return date approaches, the married woman faces the final day of her trip with mixed feelings of anxiety and hope. Overcoming her inner struggles, she awakens to her own desires as a woman, discovering a new self through pleasure.
