Shortly after my wife Yuu and I moved to this area, I was suddenly handed a community notice from Yuu urging me to participate in a two-night, three-day camping trip hosted by the neighborhood association. I explained I had no time to go during weekdays, but under Yuu's strong insistence about building relationships with the local women's group, I reluctantly agreed to let her go alone. On the day of the camp, I reassured her that everyone would be attending and saw her off, only to learn that night that aside from Yuu, the only other participants were three middle-aged men. Something felt deeply wrong—unease hung heavily in the air.
