In the 24th year of Meiji, amid the sweeping winds of revolution, the Chiyoda Pleasure Quarters were established within the Imperial Palace under the regime controlled by high-ranking officials of the Satsuma and Choshu clans. Here, the wives and daughters of former Tokugawa shogunate and Aizu domain elders are placed under the rule of the new power, engaging in various desires and struggles. Among them, Kanzein, who resisted, is exiled to a nunnery in the Seto Inland Sea, where intense human relationships unfold around her. A dramatic tale emerges, intertwining the social conditions of the era with the fates of these women, portraying the conflict between human desire and ethics.
