His subdued performance adds depth to the story, but the scene that truly made me feel sorry for him was when Hojo slaps him. The sound and visuals convey how real it was, and honestly, the intensity was enough to make me feel the pain myself. And Hojo's performance after she lets down her guard and falls for Nick is nothing short of masterful. She delicately portrays the nuances of emotion, and every single kissing scene is so beautiful it could be framed as a picture. The many highlights scattered throughout are breathtaking, and this work reaffirmed that she is a truly talented actress who can captivate an audience with nothing but kisses. Nick sometimes plays villainous roles in other works, but I feel that a serious, gentle character like this one suits him far better. There's an unpretentious naturalness that makes you believe he must be a genuinely good person in real life. His slightly permed hairstyle also matched the atmosphere perfectly, and it was very charming. Not enough close-up shots. Director Mishima’s cinematography could have used more close-ups. The distinctive texture and shadows of Maki Hojo’s coarse pubic hair are mostly shown in long shots, so you can’t fully enjoy them.
