The priest believed the widow was responsible for her husband's death and subjected her to various forms of torture based on this conviction. Her mourning clothes were bound with bamboo rods, which were used to directly assault her chest and groin. She was forced to sit while thick bamboo rods were inserted into her leg joints and stepped on, or laid flat on her back on the floor where she was trampled and prodded. Additionally, she was shackled around the neck and legs, beaten and poked with bamboo rods, and made to assume humiliating postures while being interrogated as her buttocks were struck repeatedly with bamboo.
